The Best Premium Squarespace Templates for Solopreneurs
A premium Squarespace template is a pre-made website layout that you purchase from a designer to use as a starting point for your website. I have gathered my list of my favorite Squarespace template shops for service based solopreneurs and small businesses below.
I will also explain why I think a premium Squarespace template can be a great investment and how to choose the right one for your business.
If you don’t need all of this info jump right to the list!
Why Would You Buy a Premium Squarespace Template?
When you sign up for Squarespace you have access to lots of FREE templates you can use to build your website but….you get what you pay for.
Squarespace’s free templates can be generic or super trendy (which might not be your style). It can be hard to know which one will be best for your business and it may not be set up in the best way for your visitors to take the action you want them to take (reach out, buy your thing, etc..). They also come with absolutely NO guidance on how to update them. You are on your own with just Squarespace help and Google to guide you.
Many Squarespace designers sell premium templates so you have lots of options with different styles to choose from. Templates made by designers often have a more elevated look and can include custom graphics and code for unique visual features.
Premium Squarespace templates can range in price from $100 to $400+ depending on the number of pages, features, and level of design customization and support. (REALLY big templates can cost up to $1,000.)
The cost of the template includes the training you need to customize it which gives you a HUGE head start to learn Squarespace. Some templates also come with guidance on writing your text, finding images, and selecting fonts and colors (or you can add on more training at a low cost). And you get extra support from the designer if you run into technical issues.
How to Choose a Premium Squarespace Template
Here are a few things to think about if you are shopping around for a website template.
Skip all this and jump to the list!
Do you like the look and feel of the template? Try to picture your content in the template. You will change the pictures and text (and optionally the colors and fonts) but the general design will stay the same. If it feels overwhelming or distracting or busy or boring, it’s not for you. You want to make as few changes as possible to make it yours so make sure you like the way it looks!
Does the template fit your business? The template description should say what type of businesses it’s designed for. (If it doesn’t, beware!) Check the demo site and look at all of the pages. Do the pages make sense for your business? For example, will the layout of the services page work to explain your services? Does it have a scheduling page or a blog if you need one? Can you easily remove things you don’t need (like a newsletter sign up or Instagram embed) or will it mess up the design?
How many images will you need? If you don’t have lots of amazing photos for your website (or time to search for quality stock images), pick a simpler template that requires fewer photos. You might find one you like that has custom graphics to add more visual pizzaz.
How much code is used in the template? Code can be used to add unique visual elements to a website (like special effects when you hover over things), but it can also make it a little more complicated to change. A designer should use code in a smart way that is easy for you to update (or not touch at all) and provide clear instructions, but if you REALLY don’t want anything to do with updating code, pick a “no code” template.
What Squarespace version is the template built on? The latest version of Squarespace is 7.1 Fluid Engine. If you are starting out fresh with a new website, you should buy a template on the latest version of Squarespace. 7.0 and classic editor are older versions, which were great in their time, but you want to latest and greatest!

I love their mission, style, and affordable services to get politicians up and running quickly with a website for their campaign. If you are a democrat running for office, I highly recommend a Swayed template!
The Net-Net
There are lots of premium Squarespace templates out there that will give you a great head start on your website at an affordable price. You can DIY or hire a designer to help you, which will cost more than DIY, but a lot less than a fully custom website. (Read this post to learn more about semi-custom websites.)
If you didn’t find a template that works for you on my list, google “Squarespace template for [your type of business]” and see what else comes up. You can also check out my semi-custom templates and if one of those tickles your fancy you can hire me to implement it for you!
